RAW TOMATO/THAKKALI KAI KOOTU. AMAZING WITH RICE, DOSA, IDLY, CHAPATI

Raw tomato will be green in colour and has more tanginess. I tried kootu with that, which turn out to be a really tasty and delicious dish. Perfect with hot rice. Can be matched with dosa, idly, chapati as side dish. Easy to prepare and it is a no onion no garlic dish.
Let's see how it is prepared.

Ingredients 

Raw tomatoes 3 to 4
Moong dhal 1/2 cup or 100g (approx)
Turmeric 1 pinch
Salt to taste
For grinding 
Coconut 10 to 12 pieces
Green chilli 2
Red chilli 2
Jeera 1 tsp
Corriender  few 
Curry leaves few

For tempering 
Mustard 1tsp
Channa dal 1 tsp
Urud dal 1 tsp
Jeera 1 tsp
Asafoetida 1 pinch 
Curry leaves few
Red chilli slitted 1
1 tsp ghee 
1tsp cooking oil


Preparation  time 20 mins 
Serves 4
Method
Heat a pan and add ghee and add moong dhal
Saute for few minutes until Nice aroma arises. Then add 200 ml water and allow to boil.
when half cooked add chopped tomatoes and a pinch of turmeric , 
close and cook until dal and tomatoes are cooked finely.
( you can use pressure cooker for  this step .one whistle is sufficient)

Grind the ingredients given under grinding section to fine paste by adding little water.
And this to the tomato gravy and cook for 5 minutes by adding required salt to it.Once the required consistency is attained , turn off the flame.
Heat another pan and add little oil to it.Once it is hot add the ingredients given under tempering section one by one. Once Mustard seed pops and dhal turns brown add to kootu.
Our delicious THAKKALI KAI KOOTU is ready.

I enjoyed with hot rice with little ghee for lunch.
