Festive special Rasam - Pine apple Rasam.Step by step detailed version
Pine apple rasam is delicious among various types of rasam.Though it is not made regularly it is easy to prepare. It taste includes spice and sweet and its aroma can be felt in the hand,hours after we ate it.
Let's see the step wise procedure for preparing it.
INGREDIENTS
Tamarind small lemon size
Green chilli 2
Asafoetida 1 pinch
Salt to taste
Tomato 1
Salt to taste
Curry leaves and Corriender leaves for garnishing
Mustard seed , cumin seed and 1tsp ghee for tempering.
RASAM POWDER
Pepper 1 cup
Dry Corriender seeds 4 cup
Cumin seeds 1/4 cup
Dry chilli 20 to 25 nos
Turmeric powder 2 table spoon.
These are the common ingredients for preparing rasam powder. In a mixer grinder we can grind to coarse and use when ever we use rasam.
Preparation time 20 mins
HOW TO CUT PINE APPLE
Cut the top and bottom portion of pine apple. Insert knife along the edges to remove skin from the pulp. Now you can easily remove the skin.
cut the yellow pulp into pieces.Add 200 ml water grind it and filter to extract the juice. Reserve some pieces for adding directly to the rasam.
Turn on the stove to low flame and place a vessel on it. To it add tamarind extract ,slitted chilli ,Asafoetida, Curry leaves and bring to boil.
Now add some pieces of pine apple and allow to boil for 5 mins.
In a hot ghee add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and Curry leaves and remove from stove.
